Greenhouse Pest Guide Web App

Created by Tina Smith of the University of Massachusetts and Leanne Pundt of the University of Connecticut, this app is a pest management reference guide for commercial greenhouse growers. The site can be accessed here and can be used with your browser on a smartphone or other mobile device. The app includes options for using biological controls and pesticides for a wide range of pests, including aphids, mealybugs, thrips and whiteflies, to name a few.

Market: Poplar Ridge Nursery grows ornamental grass and native grass liners. They sell primarily to wholesale nurseries as well as some landscapers and botanical gardens.

Growing Area: Poplar Ridge Nursery has 1 acre of product under cover (greenhouse and cold frames) and 3-plus acres of field-grown stock. The facility is situated on a 45-acre farm.

About the Nursery: Poplar Ridge Nursery was founded in 2000 and produces about 80 varieties of ornamental grasses in 2-, 2.5- and 3.5-inch pots. They also offer a 72 liner tray for some varieties.
